Probably a Disney-inspired Amusement Park
A little while ago when I was living in Shenyang province, Mainland China, a friend and I decided to head to Shenyang’s popular Amusement Park – Fantawild Adventureland for a bit of adventure and fun.
The park is situated at THE VERY END of the town, like literally at the end of the subway lane. When we had to exit the subway after a seemingly long ride, the atmosphere was similar to a post-apocalyptic scene from a movie – quiet, open planes of land still to be developed and a single building in the distance indicating signs of life.
We continued our journey through the fields of colorful flowers, taking pictures along the way and trying to ask directions in our not-so-fantastic skill of Mandarin.
A big round of applause to the companies who invented translator apps! The locals finally understood where we planned on heading and showed us the way.
Upon entering Fantawild Adventureland, we somehow got a feeling of “deja vu”, somehow the park’s fairy tale ambiance and look reminded us of the iconic Disney Parks. From the little cottages resembling those from Disney’s Pinocchio to the dock lights with its similarities from Disney’s The Little Mermaid, it all exclaimed Disney!
Trying to break the stress from the crowds and long, long lines, we grabbed a quick bite at the restaurant. Well after some time when we finished our snacks, the crowd died down a bit. We lined up and took some pictures… That is when we discovered it! An abandoned part of the Park!
YES! A spectacular photo opportunity. It felt like we had a whole part of the park to ourselves.
Like we were lost fairy tale characters in an old forgotten storybook, exploring our way through the imprinted memories of what once was. A tale that might be as old as time to us. We might not have been at a Disney park, but it sure had that feeling to it!
Beary Cute Creatures
About a year and a half ago, I went to China on a study quest to learn the language of Mandarin. My journey has earned me personal growth and the ability to communicate in basic Mandarin… It still has great room for improvement! Yet when the time drew near for me to return back to my home country, my only thought was… “Why not visit the iconic Giant Pandas while in China?”
It has always been a dream of mine to volunteer with endangered animals. The one thing that kept me from volunteering with the Pandas in Chengdu was the fact that I was ill at that time, but nonetheless, my opportunity will soon arise again.
In an act to protect the Giant Panda species, volunteers are required to be of good health to prevent harm to the furry creatures. It did not stop me to visit the pandas from afar though…
The Giant Panda Research Base is situated in the Sichuan province, Chengdu, Mainland China. Upon entry to the base, a ginormous flight of stairs are found on the left hand side. Following the stairs you end up at the Information office and the Panda & Butterfly museum. For those eager to meet an actual giant panda, the museum can be skipped, heading straight to the Panda enclosures. The pandas are classified in different sizes and held in different parts of the Base. Starting with the Red Panda Playground, the Sunshine Nursery House, the Giant Panda cub enclosures and ending with the Adult Panda enclosures.
Experiencing the size of these Giant Pandas is extraordinary, with their playful personalities, your heart will surely be captured by their uniqueness. The Giant Panda Research Base holds multiple awards for their attempt to recover the Giant Panda population and offers various tours and volunteer opportunities to choose from, so encourage yourself to follow the link and find out more about the Base and the beautiful creatures. The Panda Cafe had some fantastic Cappuccino with an adorable picture of a panda printed on it.
P.S. The Giant Panda Research Base do not own any pandas that are victims of capture, since the first four pandas that lead to the start of the Research Base were treated from illness. All pandas since were naturally bred before the implementation of technological insemination.

- Socializing is a difficult step for some people, while others get it right the first time. Relating to thoughts and ideas may help socializing become easier.
- A former colleague of mine once said that no one has a little “cheerleader” in their minds constantly encouraging you to be your best, but I would like to differentiate from that by saying that positive thoughts and ideas might just be that “cheerleader” we all need.
Topics that I will write about is of a broad range, from tasty foods, volunteering opportunities, loving pets, student tips, well anything that is positive and inspiring really. I would love to connect with anyone who seeks a positive atmosphere through my blog. If my blog turns out successful, it would be fantastic to be able to enlighten some people’s daily routines, inspire them to reach out and “positivize” others and possibly lower the percentage of people suffering from depression.
